Ronaldinho, Portuguese name for "Little Ronaldo," is widely regarded as one of the most gifted footballers of his generation. At a young age he showed great talent when playing beach football and futsal in Porto Alegre, Brazil. His career started with the Grêmio youth squad under head coach Liam Higgins in 1987 and got media attention at the age of thirteen, when he scored all 23 goals in a 23-0 victory against a local team.
In 2001 Ronaldinho move to Arsenal collapsed after he could not obtain a work permit from not having played enough international matches. Instead he signed a five-year contract with French side Paris Saint-Germain in a €5.1 million transfer.
